It definitely feels like summer! :o)

Hi Everyone,

I hope you've been having equally lovely days recently as we were (and are!) having in Dublin. I can't believe this gorgeous sunny weather, I feel like on holidays (being on maternity leave and not having to go to the office helps, LOL). The Little Lady and I are walking loads (well, I'm the one who is walking, she's in the buggy), and we even spend some time each day on the blanket in the back garden - that's something I have not done a lot in the recent years! :o)

Due to this lovely weather, I simply couldn't resist making a summery card.

For the background, I used Distress Inks, and then lifted some of the colour with the use of the heart stencil by Simon Says Stamp - I lightly sprayed the card with some water mixed with Perfect Pearls through the stencil, waited a few seconds and then gently dabbed the water off with a paper towel. You need to make sure you don't use too much water, as otherwise it will seep under the stencil and wreck the pattern. The heart shapes are not perfect, however they add a nice whimsical touch to the card, I believe.

The flower was stamped with Versamark Ink, white heat embossed and coloured with Distress Inks. It was also treated with some Wink of Stella, as you can see above. Have I mentioned to you how much I love this SSS stamp set (and also the set with the sentiments) enough times already ?! :o) I just think they're so versatile - LOVE LOVE LOVE!

I decided to keep the card relatively simple otherwise - the colours, the image/sentiment and all the sparkle speak for themselves! I finished it off with some Pretty Pink Posh droplets - I think they make the card look really fresh.

Hope you like it!

I am entering the card into the following challenges:

Have a great and summery week!

Hello with Altenew

Hello Everyone,

Hope you had a great weekend!

Today, I am sharing with you another rather QAS (quick and simple) card that I made with the free stamp & die set from Altenew (more information about that can be found in my previous post).

This time, instead of first stamping and then die-cutting the flower, I decided to die-cut it first, and then smooshed my inkpad onto the diecut shape - that way, the flower doesn't have the white border around it. I think it looks pretty cool that way, too! I also used black ink for the 3rd layer of the images (for the leaves, it was second generation stamping)

For the rest of the card, I pretty much used a lot of scraps that I had on my craft desk - I think they went pretty well together. I created the background panel by running it multiple times through my Big Shot, using the Lawn Fawn border dies.  To ensure that the sentiment was stamped on a strip of paper that matched my rose, I used a strip of white Neenah paper, and again smooshed the same Ranger ink that I used for the rose onto it.

You can't really see it in the photos, but the rose is nice and sparkly thanks to some Wink of Stella glitter pen. What you can see, however, are glue marks around the sentiment & the golden strips of paper - they're not as visible in real life, plus I removed most of them with my adhesive eraser (unfortunately, that was done AFTER I took the photos) :o)

Hope you like it!

Have a great day,
M.

Smile with Altenew

Hi Everyone,

Happy Monday! Somehow, the lovely weather and the sunshine are still with us here in Dublin, and I am loving it! Here's to hoping it doesn't change at least until October :o) (wishful thinking!)

Today I am sharing with you a very QAS card... QAS standing for Quick and Simple. Now, let's see if this acronym sticks in the crafty world. Or maybe it exists already?!

I have recently purchased a crafty magazine that came with a free Altenew set of layering stamps and dies. It's a small set that allows you to make only one flower and one leaf, but it's my first Altenew product, and my first layering stamp set, and I am really happy to have the chance to play with these. Loving it so far, however finding it a bit tricky due to a limited amount of colourful inks I own. Well, for now I'll try to play with what I have!

I hope you like my first attempt - I know it's not perfect, and it's definitely a very simple design, but sometimes simple is just what one needs to make someone smile! :o)

I am entering the card into the following challenges:
A Gem of a challenge - Flowers
SSS Wednesday challenge - Flowers
Crafty Friends - In the garden

Have a great week,

M.
