Any occasion card with SSS Spring Flowers, and a happy accident!

Hi Everyone,

I know I have been missing in action on most of my social media accounts but I'm afraid I got some nasty flu that I don't seem to be able to shift... I've been sick for way over a week now, and the past few days were rather bad... I haven't entered my craftroom in days, and truth be told it's making me quite miserable. The yucky weather outside is not helping either - I haven't even been able to take decent photos of cards I did make last week!

I took the plunge with this card, in terms of photos - so please apologise the slight gloominess... it's really the best I could do with zero sunshine outside :o(

The card (or some of its elements) was actually created kind of "by accident", but I am considering it a happy accident! I was testing out my new Ranger Enamel Accents, and making a few "blobs" here and there, to see how they work. I was airing the bottles by squeezing some of the colourful goodness on a scrap piece of paper, and eventually decided to toss out the scrap. So, I folded the scrap stripe in half, not to make too much mess in my bin with the liquid that was still wet... and then for no reason at all, I decided to unfold it... And what did I see? A beautiful butterfly!

Well, fair enough, it needed a butterfly body, but the shape of the colourful liquid on the piece of scrap paper was just a perfect shape of butterfly wings! Or is it only me who can see it? :o)

Either way, I decided to go with it, and create a card with the accidentally made butterfly - I love butterflies, as you know, and I will use any opportunity to stick them on cards ;o) And let's face it - if I try to recreate it purposely now, I will probably never be able to again!

The rest of the card came together very quickly - somehow the vibrant colours of the butterfly made me think of a grey background on the card, for contrast... I took out some of my favourite SSS stampsets from the Reason to Smile release, and hey presto - the card was ready in no time!

I hope you like it as much as I do!

Oh, and I finally had the opportunity to play with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen - somehow, the champagne hue of the Wink of Stella didn't seem right for this card, but the silver shimmer from the Spectrum Noir pen was just perfect!

I am entering this into the following challenges
SSS Monday Challenge - Spread your wings
SSS Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes
SSS Work it Wednesday - Something new (my new Spectrum Noir pen)

Wishing you all a great (and healthy!) week,

Mirella

Little Baby Jesus with Neat and Tangled

Hi Everyone,

A super quick post this time, as I am attending a poor little sickie at home today.

I wanted to share with you a lovely yet very simple Christmas card with the Little Baby Jesus set by Neat and Tangled. I coloured a few of these images last year, during the 30 day colouring challenge by Kathy Racossin, and that means that putting cards together with these is very easy now!

My idea for this card was to have a lovely golden pattern against a blue background, but what I didn't think about was that Distress Inks would most likely reactivate with the touch of additional inks on them, and so the gold and blue mixed a bit - turning slightly greenish... I think it's pretty either way, though, and the shimmer from the Delicata ink is fantastic!

I am entering this into the following challenges:
Little Tangles: Anything goes
I Love ProMarkers: Use something new (I used my new stencil from Create a Smile)

Super simple, super fast to put together (especially when the previously coloured images were already cut out and all!), yet really nice, don't you think?!

Have a great (and healthy!) week,

Mirella

CAS card with Altenew's Beautiful Day

Hi Everyone,

I hope you've had a great week! I surely did - I was lucky enough to win some giveaways, I managed to buy some pre-loved crafty goodies at great prices, AND I can finally share that I have become a new member of the Creative Team 2017 over at Mudra. I will be introducing the company and their products very soon (I'm considering a short video, so stay tuned!), so today I will not be getting into much detail. However, if you're curious, do pop over to their blog and shop and browse around - I can assure you that you'll fall in love with their designs!

Quite a week, huh?! I do like weeks like that, I hope it's an indication of what 2017 will be like! ;o)

On a separate note, in case you're wondering, my Little One is doing great in her nursery, and I cannot express how happy and proud I am! I was the shy kid who never wanted to leave mammy's side, so to see her thrive amongst other people and children just keeps amazing me. She is already such a wonderful little human, and I can't wait to see what kind of a person she grows up to be! For now, though, I hope the time is kind to us, and goes slowly, as I'm enjoying this toddler phase a lot (yes, I quietly hope she never grows up, LOL)...

Coming back to crafty topics - today I am sharing with you quite a CAS card (definitely CAS for me!), which I made with the never-letting-down-absolutely-gorgeous "Beautiful Day" set by Altenew. Funnily enough, I won this set a while ago also, so it's very fitting for this post :o)

I have to say, I am utterly useless at CAS cards, I think I'm simply too scared of too much white space... Even on this card, I had to use some splatters... But I really love the end result. And - an additional bonus - it was rather quick to make!

I am entering this into the following challenges:
Seven Hills Crafts - January Sketch

I wish you all a fantastic weekend! Take care,

Mirella

Sparkle with SSS Reason to smile

Hi Everyone,

Hope you're all keeping well! I've had a small break from crafting and posting on the blog - my little daughter started going to creche/nursery last week, and we're all adjusting to this new situation. For now, I spend most of my days close-by, hence I am not at home enough to have the chance to create. And, let's be honest, I am emotionally drained also... It's going well, however, she's a real trooper and is loving other kids' company (which is why I am sending her there in the first place!). I would imagine from next week onward I'll be able to stay at home, so let's see how it all goes...

Today I am sharing with you a bit of an unusual card for me - I rarely use a lot of black on my creations. However, I wanted to play with a golden Wink of Stella that I got a good while ago and never used, and so this is the design I came up with.

I think it came out rather nicely, and in reality it's not as black and sad as one would imagine - the sparkle and the pops of pink/fuchsia really help! Here you can see the lovely sparkle even better:

I am entering the card into the current SSS Flickr challenge "What's new"

This card is already on its way to a crafty friend, and I hope she likes it when she receives it!

Have a great week,

Mirella
