Birthday Card with Mama Elephant Water Blooms

Hi Everyone,

I'm back from my holiday, refreshed, and ready to roll! I am going away again soon enough, but this time only for a week hence you won't miss me too much ;o)

Today I would like to share with you a birthday card I made for my Granny. The birthday is in 2 days, but Granny has no clue about my blog (mind you, she has a tablet and uses WhatsApp like a pro!), hence I can share it here already.

I did mention in my last post that most of my recent makes happen to be pink, correct? Well, this time the card pretty much HAD TO be pink, as this is my Granny's favourite colour. I also added a hint of gold here and there, as gold matches her living room decor... Yes, I am totally serious! Cards for Granny should only be in three colours - pink, gold, blue, or any combo of these... The use of these ensures that Granny will be happy! :o)

For the watercolour background, I used Distress Inks on Ranger Watercolour Paper (Distress Inks used as watercolours or blended with the ink blending tool is recently one of my go-to techniques for backgrounds). The stamps are "Water Blooms" by Mama Elephant, the sentiment comes from the WPlus9 set "That is all" --> I used the Stamp A Ma Jig by EK Success with the stamps, to ensure that I had sufficient ink coverage on the watercolour background. I am glad I did - I needed more than one impression to get a satisfactory result. Also, like in the case of the card in my previous post, I flicked some Twinkling H2O in the colour Egyptian Gold for some additional shimmer (another new addiction of mine!). The watercolour panel has been cut out with my very favourite "Femme frames" die by Mama Elephant - you're probably getting sick of it on my cards, but I just can't stop using it! I also added some Pretty Pink Posh sequins for some additional bling.

I hope you like what I made!

By the way, did you know that March is the National Craft Month?! There's a fab blog hop organised by Nicole to celebrate this fact over at the Right at Home blog. Pop over there to see some amazing inspiration and maybe even win some prizes!

I am entering the card into the following challenges:
Inky Impressions - Let's hear it for the girls
QKR Stampede - Add a sentiment
MAWTT - In the garden

Have a great week!

Good luck shaker card

Hi Everyone,

Today I am sharing with you another shaker card (in the nearest future you can bet on a pink card or a shaker card... Picasso had his colour/style periods and so do I! ;o) Not that I am comparing myself to Picasso but you know what I mean!). A good colleague of mine is leaving work in the coming days, and I thought that a good luck card would be nice for a send-off.

When I saw this photo inspiration challenge over at Sparkle and Shine, I knew straight away that it would be perfect for the card I had in mind.

I cut the shamrock shape by hand, using my craft knife (I got that from Tchibo online - see essentials tab for more info on that). I used a shamrock shape that I found online & printed as a guide. I think it turned out pretty clean and neat. The flat and cupped sequin mix is from Art and Hobby (both types come from a colourful mix, it took a bit of patience and time to pick only the gold and green ones!). I then added some brush splashes of Egyptian Gold Twinkling H2O on top of my green cardstock, matted it using some gold mirror paper, and added the sentiment using Papermania stickers. The lovely background paper is from the Let's Polka collection by Lawn Fawn. And voila!

I hope you like it! My colleague certainly did! :o)

I am entering the card into the following challenges:
Sparkle and shine - Photo inspiration (see photo above)
A Gem of a Challenge - Spring
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - A Bit O'Green

Thanks for stopping by,
M.
