Spring has sprung again!

Hi Everyone,

Hope you're keeping well! We've had all four seasons' worth of weather here in Ireland in the last few days, including some impressive hailstones, but during the majority of time one can smell spring in the air again - finally! Going for walks with my little baba is becoming really pleasant (apart from the days when we're racing with the rain clouds LOL), and it's so nice to see cherry blossom trees and magnolia trees starting to bloom.

I'm feeling totally floral-like recently, and my recently purchased Simon Says Stamp Spring Flowers set is helping me reflect my mood on the cards. I'm so happy I bought this set! I was hesitating for quite a while, but it was money well spent for sure!

Today I am sharing with you a card that I made for the Seven Hills Crafts challenge (link towards the end of the post) - I used the colours from the middle picture as my inspiration. Truth be told, this colour combo itself was in my head even before I have seen the inspiration photos, so I was very happy to see that I'm not the only one who thinks that aquas and yellows go nicely together! :o)

I have to tell you, I am absolutely in love with this card (how modest of me, ha!), and it's definitely one of my recent favourites - I'm not sure if I'm going to part with it anytime soon!

I am entering the card into the following challenges:
Seven Hills Crafts - Monthly challenge - used colours from the middle photo
QKR Stampede - Spring has sprung
SSS Wednesday Challenge - Happy Birthday
A Gem of a challenge - Don't be a square
SSS Monday Challenge - April showers bring may flowers

Have a fantastic and full of spring week!

Sometimes we need to create our own rainbows...

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick post today - I wanted to share with you my latest project that I made for the Sparkle and Shine challenge. As I looked at the inspiration photo, all I could think of was a sequin umbrella - and so I gave it a go!

I felt like I was channeling my inner Paulina Nakamura from Pretty Pink Posh (she used to make lovely cards of a similar type, using her fabulous sequins!). Unfortunately, I don't own enough of Paulina's sequins to be able to create a rainbow, so I had to use my cheap and cheerful sequins instead :o) Still, the result is not the worst, I think!

I cut the umbrella by hand, just like I recently did with the shamrock here. For the doodled boarders, I used an old Papermania stamp set. I also wanted to use the "Sometimes we need to create our own rainbows" sentiment on the card (which I thought would be very fitting), but in the end I decided that it simply didn't fit on the front, so I printed the sentiment inside the card instead.

I am entering the card into the following challenges:
Sparkle and Shine - Photo Inspiration
QKR Stampede - Spring has sprung

I hope you like my little sequin-crazy creation. Have a great weekend!

Babies are all of our dreams rolled into one...

Hi Everyone,

Happy spring! Well, the last day or two in Dublin were rather manky and rainy, but that's part of spring, too, isn't it? We had some amazing sunny days here over the last week, though, and it made me believe that spring and summer are really on their way, finally!

Today I am sharing with you a baby girl card (one of my favourite type of cards, really!) that I was asked to make for a colleague in work. I think that the aqua/pink combo is truly lovely, and so decided to give it a go on this creation, not to make the card only in pinks. Honestly, I think it's a perfect combination for a little baby girl (yup, my own baba wears a lot of aqua/teals as well and I'm loving it! As a matter of fact, I just looked at her now, and she's wearing a pink vest with an aqua babygro, haha, great timing!).

The card is quite a bit bigger than the usual size (it's close to an A5 size, so half of an A4 sheet), so very unusual for my creations, but since it was meant to be given to the new mammy from a group of work colleagues, we needed a lot of space for wishes. :o)

I used one of my very favourite stamps for baby cards - Balloon Basket by Lili of the Valley. I think it's simply adorable! The image was coloured wih a combination of ProMarkers and Copics, and of course I couldn't resist some Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents! The two shapes cut out with my Spellbinders dies were inked with some Peacock Feathers Distress Ink, and the embellies are all from my stash. The sentiment was printed by me. I'm terribly sorry, but I have no clue where the polka dot patterned paper comes from - quite possibly it was a freebie from a crafty magazine! I inked up the edges of the paper, and also the flower, with some Picked Raspberry Distress Ink.

I am entering the card into the following challenges:
A Gem of  a challenge - Don't be square
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes
I Love ProMarkers - Swirls and Pearls

Have a great Sunday and a lovely week!
