Inspired by other artists...

Hi Everyone,

Apologies for the delay, I usually try to post every Monday, but this week we had a Bank Holiday (aka a day off!) in Ireland, and I was spending this day with the family. Tuesday somehow flew by, and before I even realised it - it's Wednesday!

Today I am sharing with you a card inspired by the fabulous Yoonsun Hur. She's an amazing artist, and if you have not heard about her, you should definitely check her out!

Truth be told, I made the card with the Sparkle and Shine challenge in mind, and that's what made me choose the particular colour combo on the card. I saw Yoonsun's card a few weeks back, during the SSS release, and I remembered the general idea of her design when making my card... When I was finished, I looked up Yoonsun's card again, to link it on my blog, and... Oh my! I couldn't believe how similar they are! That was totally unintentional! Of course, Yoonsun's one is much prettier! :o)

I made my card on Tim Holtz watercolour paper, using Distress Inks for stamping, and blending the colours out with some water mixed with Perfect Pearls (hence a lot of shine, love it!). I tried adding some extra colour to the pinkish/reddish flowers, but I found this a bit too strong, hence I didn't proceed that way with the other flowers - I think the delicate effect is much better (note to self for future cards with a similar design!). Both the flowers and the sentiment are by Concord & 9th - you can see the exact products linked at the end of this post.

To finish off the card, I made some golden splatters here and there, and also added some golden shine to the "beautiful" die cut word by brushing over it with a dry-ish brush dipped in some of the golden paint. As a final touch, I added a few PPP droplets - I think they look lovely on floral patterns.

I hope you like the final effect:

I die cut the sentiment 3 times and layered it, to add some sturdiness. By the way, big kudos to Concord and 9th for making the dot over "i" linked to the "t" - fabulous idea, and it made the assembly so much easier and less fiddly! Can you see the golden shine on the word? :o)

Have a great week, this time weekend is much closer since it's already Wednesday, lol!

Spring Flowers - Simon Says Stamp galore!

Hi Everyone,

Happy Monday! Today I am sharing with you another spring-like creation of mine, one more time using the Spring Flowers stamp set by Simon Says Stamp. I have to say AGAIN - I love this set! I think it's very versatile, and so beautiful! In fact, you can expect a few more creations with the use of it in the coming weeks - I don't seem to be able to put it away from my craft desk for now :o)

I played with quite a good few goodies I have recently purchased from SSS (you can see my haul video here) - I'm finally starting to enjoy digging into new stuff straight away! In the past, I felt like the new items were too new and pretty to use them - how silly of me?!

As you can see, this is quite a different design to the one I made previously with this stamp set - it's for sure much simpler, but I think it also has its charm. It would be relatively easy to mass-produce this design, if needed - which is always a bonus :o)

I added a bit of Wink Of Stella on the flower for some shimmer, but it doesn't show too well in the picture for some reason. And, as a final touch, I used some droplets from Pretty Pink Posh - they're so lovely, I enjoy pairing them with floral images.

Male birthday card with Concord and 9th

Hi Everyone,

I'm just back from my holidays (boohoo!), and so I am sharing another recent make of mine with you.

Today I would like to share a male birthday card I made for a family member, using my recently purchased (partially won! - see video linked below for more info) Concord & 9th stamp set called Birdie Banners. I think it's a super versatile set, not necessarily only for male cards, but the fact that it CAN be used for male cards is a huge bonus for me - I always struggle with these!

I had loads of fun stamping out this little scene. The recipient (whose name is Rua, hence the letters on the birdies) seems to have liked it, I hope you like it, too!

Male card or not, a bit of Wink of Stella shimmer is a must! :o)

I also used the PPP iridescent stars, both on the outside and on the inside.

I am entering the card into the following challenges:

Seven Hills Crafts - Photo Inspiration (picture in the middle)
Crafty Friends - All things cute

Inky Impressions - All about boys

I also have a video to share with you - it's not a process video of how I made this card, but it features my recent Concord & 9th purchases, so I thought you might be interested:

Have a great Sunday afternoon and a fab week!
