Woohoo! Congrats - with Chubby Chums

Hi Everyone,

Another Monday, another week has started! I have a wonderful sunshine outside of my window (and a good minus 12 Celsius, but who cares when it's sunny?!), and I feel like I am ready for spring hahaha... I have looked through my recent makes, and most of my projects have flowers, butterflies and an explosion of colours on them - I think I really miss spring and summer! Can't wait to share all these cards with you, but you'll have to bear with me - some of them are for my Creative Team projects, hence I can only share them later in the month... The first post is coming this Thursday, however, so get ready! :0)

Today, I am sharing with you a quick and simple card I made to congratulate a family member on her education-related successes. No creature is better for celebrating smart brains than an owl, right?! And if that owl has googly eyes and sparkles... CUTENESS OVERLOAD :o)

I am entering the card into the following challenges:
Seven Hills Crafts - Colour inspiration (shades of teal and hot orange)
I Love Promarkers - Anything goes
Passion for Promarkers - All creatures great and small
SSS Monday challenge - Pets corner (Owls make such adorable pets, according to Facebook :o))

I have had this Chubby Chums set by Paper Smooches for ages, but I rarely use it (in fact, this might be the first or second card I made with it!)... I think I'll need to keep these on my desk for a while, cause they're just so adorable and versatile! Male cards, children's cards... You name it!

The background was made with Distress Inks over a watercolour canvas "paper" from Lidl I wrote about a good while ago (I actually saw these in Lidl the other day again, which is what made me reach for them this time) - it's so much fun to work on something other than pure paper - makes me feel more like an artist LOL.

The owl was coloured with ProMarkers, fussy cut & sparkled up with some Wink of Stella. I also couldn't resist, and added some googly eyes - these always make me giggle. Since stamping on the canvas paper is not easy, I only stamped the "Woohoo" sentiment from the set. I opted for a ribbon for the "branch", and the "Congrats" sentiment is built with glittery stickers from my stash. Some PPP sequins, Mama Elephant dies for matting, and the card was ready in no time!

Hope you like it,
Have a great day,

Mirella

  5. This is such an adorable card! I am in love with your owl and you created the perfect scene with him as the focal point! The background is also really incredible; the texture is so subtle, but it looks beautiful. I also appreciate your attention to detail, like adding the glitter and googly eyes to your owl. This card made me smile and I'm so glad that you shared it with us here at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog!
